While many were at home procrastinating their homework, a handful of students and teachers came out to the Columbia Art League for the April 26 opening reception of the “Blue” show, an exhibit centered around the open interpretation of the theme “Blue.”
Since there were significantly more entries than there was space for in the gallery, about 103 pieces were chosen from 165 entries; notable because the gallery usually cuts off at about 80 pieces of work.
Seven students made it into the show: seniors Breanna Aldridge, Brandon Smith, Cora Trout and Theresa Whang, sophomores Sam Ding and Yasmeen El-Jayyousi and junior Megan Henley. Brandon Smith was awarded CAL’s Emerging Artist Award at the reception, which recognizes an up-and-coming young artist.
To see Rock Bridge represented in the arts for yourself, check out the “Blue” show on exhibit until June 23 at the downtown Columbia Art League, in between Shakespeare’s Pizza and the Missouri Theatre.
