Today’s Courtwarming assembly featured a competition between winter sport’s teammebers, the proclamation of the already crowned king and his court, and fun views of the winter play, “Almost Maine.”
The one sophomores were focused on, though, came after a grueling face-off between social studies teacher Deborah Perry’s and math teacher Travis Martin’s advisories for the gold.
Senior mentors, guided by counselor Melissa Melahn, treated the sophomore class this year with a multi-semester competition with “olympic activities” gunning for the gold prize of a class pizza party. The competition, after many events, came to a close today as Perry’s class dominated Martin’s in a vasaline-cotton ball challenge, but wasn humble in the face of recognition.
“I know cooperation is more important than competition and probably leads to better self-actualization, but when you win, it just feels good,” Perry said. “So I don’t know what to do with that. But we are pretty excited and are going to have a week long celebration. It’s better than the Greek olympics, so I’m just saying we love it. We came; we saw; we conquered.”
